UL-Fighter: Bateleur
2001-12-21 Windeck, Germanybateleur.JPG
There exists all kinds of weird UL-outfits but Bataleurs is one of the most strange. The rig seems to be a real jet-fighter and indeed it got similar flight  constitution. The constructor Andre Von Shoenebecks philosophy in aerodynamics and technical solutions builds on the military aircraft principles. The plane has delta winds, retractable landings gear, tandem cockpit and is marching with 250 km/h speed with the standard 100 hp Rotax 912S. Stall speed is low enough to pass the UL-regulations 65 km/h max. limit. The plane have sizable wing tips that are characteristic to every self-respecting modern UL-plane that wants to maximise the speed within the weight limits. The productions of this futuristic beauty shall start in Germany. The price 70,000 Euro is inclusive German VAT but don't include the parachute that is obligatoric in German UL-planes. Help program  to plan the flight
001-11-05 Stockholm

To make a trip plan is time-consuming. It takes a lot of calculation to count the influence of wind direction and wind speed when figuring out the ground speed (GS) and fuel usage. Sridhar Rajagopal in USA has tackled the problem with a program for Excel. You just need to feed in the actual data.  Your can download the program free in Sridhar'S Aviation Page. Thanks to Niclas Peyron for the hint.
